Actually a fermentation jar. I ordered it from Cultures for health. For 30 bucks and freight they sent me a one gallon glass jar, a bubbler, ceramic weights to hold the fermenting food underneath the surface, and two lids, one for the bubbler and one for capping.
I'll start with cucumbers. The Calypso cucumbers are sizing up. I expect to pick a batch in about a week.
There has been no shortage of rain this week. Since Sunday it has either been raining or overcast. That head of broccoli that on Sunday looked like it would be ready to pick in a day - still not ready yet. So far today there has been no rain, but tomorrow it begins again as the tropical storm that swept through Texas dies out over the Midwest states.

I can't wait to try fermenting cucumbers. Pickles are so good.
I have done kimchi and hot sauce but never pickles. That's something I want to try (planted lots of picklers this year, hope I get some). This looks like a good setup. I think I can get this setup at a local home brew store.
