OK this is more like it

I'm calling this the first real harvest of the season, because there was some variety to it.  The first cole crop was picked, a Kolibri kohlrabi:

And Tribute strawberries.  This picking was nearly a pound:

The overwintered spinach was a real disappointment this year, with the leaves turning brown.  Good thing I planted a row of spinach this spring.  Most years the spring-planted spinach fails to produce.  This year I planted a new variety, Reflect, a semi-savoyed type.  It is supposed to be an early maturing spinach.  I picked a two heads this weekend, along with more strawberries,

Last night I picked a small head of Snow Crown cauliflower, and more berries.

There are three spinach plants left.  It's amazing that they haven't shown any signs of bolting yet.  Since today was quite warm I think I'll pick them tonight.  And there's a head of broccoli that is just about ready to pick. . .

All of your harvests look amazing...especially those strawberries! It seems so early to be picking cauliflower - for some reason, I thought they took quite a long time to mature.

I agree with Margaret, those strawberries are amazing! It's always tempting for me to grow them again but then I remember how much work it involves. And you got cauliflower too? There's another thing I gave up growing.

Yes, this surely is a "real harvest." Good-lookin' stuff. I'm growing strawberries for the first time this year. No harvest this year, but I'd like to know how you keep the critters off the lovely fruit. I'm fearing chipmunk damage.

Yep, I agree - that is a very respectable harvest! I have never been brave enough to try growing cauliflower; everyone says it is very difficult to get it right. My strawberries are coming on, but nowhere near ready yet.

Perfect kohlrabi and gorgeous strawberries! A great "real" harvest.

Margaret - Snow Crown cauliflower is very early. It's pretty reliable until hot weather although the heads are small, this one was only 6 ounces.
Eight Gate - Most of the damage on my berries is from birds, especially the exposed berries. If it's just a peck I use them anyway. Once the critters are 'on' to the berries I start picking them not quite ripe.

Your spinach plants are so big, and those strawberries look so good. I'm trying Kolibri kohlrabi this year, the fall planting of White Vienna didn't head up for me.
